EUI Values for Typical Buildings

• Energy Use Intensity (EUI) is one of the main key metrics for benchmarking building energy use intensity. • EUI is calculated by dividing the total energy consumed by the building in one year by the gross floor area of the building.

• CBECS EUI is a recommended benchmark metric for all buildings.

• Benchmarking is now regulatory in some jurisdictions.
