APTOS HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER Aptos, CA Type: Performing Arts Center Size: 43,000 SF AlfaTech performed mechanical and electrical design services for this $15 M new 450-seat performing arts center and a 1600-seat gym. This includes a shared corridor, lobby, and concession stand. SWEETWATER SPECTRUM Sonoma, CA Type: Residential Community Size: 3-acre Property The Sweetwater Spectrum non profit organization was to meet an extraordinary need—appropriate, high-quality housing for adults with autism. This residential community is a completely new model, incorporating the best elements of existing services and sustainable design to create a compassionate, pragmatic and ambitious program of choices for young autistic adults.

AlfaTech provided mechanical and electrical design services for a new 8,000-seat indoor performing arts theatre with six concessions areas, associated full-service kitchens, back of house support and administrative offices.

The firm provided engineering design services for a 27,300 SF performing arts center which includes a 500-seat auditorium with a professional size 35 foot by 90 foot stage and fly tower; a multi-purpose room which can be used as a dance studio, green room, or a drama classroom, also has dressing rooms, costume fitting room, a scenery workshop, lobby, restrooms, offices, and instrument storage for the music department. Flexibility is the essential programmatic requirement for this Performing Arts Center. The stage includes an adjustable orchestra lift supplied by Gala Spiralift, enabling it to be raised and lowered in seconds even with the entire orchestra seated on it. The theater also features the first digital rigging system on the West Coast. It operates in the fly space with room enough for expansion. Awards: 2004 CASH/AIACC, Leroy F. OBERLIN DANCE COLLECTIVE San Francisco, CA Type: Theater

The conversion of a historic box factory built in 1909 into a world-class dance center presented unique engineering challenges. The result was a sustainable building that met strict preservation and code requirements, while providing a flexible facility for the client. This 3-story building includes studios, café, support spaces, and a green room.
