CAL IFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES*

Golden Gate Par, San Francisco, CA

Type: Museum Size: 410,000 SF

Designed by world class architect Renzo Plano, this new museum is the most sustainable museum and the largest LEED Platinum building in the world today. The living roof is one of the most notable features of the project containing 1.7 million native plants. A solar canopy on the roof contains 60,000 photovoltaic cells. Floor to ceiling windows provide views to the park throughout the multi-story structure. The facility houses the famed natural history museum, an aquarium, a 4-story living rainforest, a 3D theater, a lecture hall, two dining facilities, a garden and aviary, roof terrace and Academy store. Our team members’ involvement began in the earliest stages during the architects' conceptual design phase which took place via team brainstorming sessions and continued over the seven years of the project.
