AlfaTech was established in Silicon Valley in 1987 as a mechanical, electrical, and technology (low voltage, security, and A/V) design engineering firm. Responding to client needs, we expanded our service offerings to include architectural lighting design, sustainability, Smart Building, and project management services. In addition, we expanded into five California offices, including San Jose (Silicon Valley), San Francisco, Monrovia, Orange and San Diego. AlfaTech is gaining ground through organic, merger, and acquisition growth. Establishing Vela Tech portfolio with parent company RSBG, our services reach the West Coast to the Midwest and the East Coast from partner offices in Seattle, Chicago, Reston, and Edison. AlfaTech recently completed Uber’s innovative new sustainable San Francisco headquarters which is a ground up office building in the Mission Bay district. AlfaTech provided design/bid/build style Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering, lighting design, and Technology (low voltage, security, audio/visual) services, throughout the entire project. AlfaTech is part of the construction administration effort and served as the engineer-of-record for mechanical and electrical installations. AlfaTech assisted the architectural design team with optimizing performance by assessing various utility, façade and wind studies. Life-cycle cost analysis, energy benchmarking, and computational fluid dynamics were critical tools to inform the design effort. The project was designed as an innovative, ultra-high performance building that focuses on an occupant-centric workplace and includes an elaborate IT infrastructure, a façade that responds to programmatic needs, an under-floor air distribution system, a two building atria system incorporating natural ventilation, and a central treatment system for collecting graywater and rainwater. The interactions between the occupants, the buildings, and the ambient, were at the heart of the architectural and engineering systems; targeting lower environmental metrics of 1,100,000 kWh in reduced energy use and 2,100,000 gallons in reduced water use. AlfaTech provided engineering strategies and Smart Building System Matrix outlining all systems that should be included in the Intelligent Smart Building System.

Uber Mission Bay 3 & 4

AlfaTech (AT) provided comprehensive engineering and technology design for two 11 story high- rise buildings for Uber’s impressive new sustainable headquarters on the Chase Center campus. AT provided design services for full design, MEP, Technology, and lighting system design for the tenant improvements. These buildings were designed to foster creativity and innovation featuring both lively and quiet zones, a gym, terrace balconies, full-service two-floor kitchen / cafeteria, coffee and smoothie bars, and many other amenities for occupant comfort. Scope also included library, makers room, event lounge, conference center, training rooms, and retail space. Mission Bay 3 features a new 11,400 SF wellness fitness center on level 3, including a 4,200 SF exterior terrace for employee use. AlfaTech is providing MEP engineering design services for the multiple phases of tenant improvements for Visa Metro Campus in Foster City. Buildings 1 and 2 each are 12-story office buildings with attached 4-level parking garages. The design included several floors of office space, specialty rooms, restrooms, prayer rooms, meeting rooms, copy/work rooms and amenities spaces including a tech connection bar, 4,000 SF health/wellness center, cafeteria, and auditorium/lobby. There is an interconnecting staircase between the floors and a bridge connecting the two buildings. Services included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering; fire protection design; technology design, lighting design and construction administration.

This campus consists of: three interconnected, 6-story office buildings with two levels of podium parking on the ground totaling 752,100 SF; 25,000 SF cold core and shell café building with full-service commercial kitchen with variable flow system; six-story parking garage; open and collaborative environment with furniture systems; private offices; software/light-hardware labs in buildings 1 and 2 totaling 36,000 SF; server room with cooling redundancy; fitness center and wellness center, 10,000 SF each, in office tower 1 on level 3.

Cisco selected AlfaTech to provide engineering design services for all five sites comprising their world headquarters campus. These buildings, which range from one to four stories, contain a variety of space types, including data center, office, research and development, engineering labs and testing areas, manufacturing, cafeteria, conference, executive briefing, and a fitness center. The firm has been involved with Cisco both nationally and internationally on projects during various stages of engineering services. A substantial PG&E energy rebate resulted from our energy-saving mechanical systems designs, the project also won a separate energy award. Site 1 has a manufacturing plant, and a main engineering and MIS data center. Site 2's data center supports Cisco’s seven day/twenty four hour online corporate network connectivity, and the infrastructure was designed to support future engineering lab and bench functions. Site 3 buildings required stringent control of temperature and humidity. For Site 4, the firm also performed studies for site utility alternatives including cogeneration.

Now considered a landmark on the San Jose skyline, the Adobe headquarters campus houses more than 2,500 employees. Each of the three buildings has its own parking garage, public lobby, data center, and will provide open workspace, Executive level offices, conference rooms, breakout areas, cafés, a wellness/fitness center, a roof deck, pedestrian bridge, a new Customer Experience Center. Building Two also features retail space at street level. Additionally, each tower included a data center. The data center design consisted of a 7/24 full generator/UPS backup system for HVAC, lighting and power within the room with 100% redundancy. Technology design services included the design of the intra-building and inter-building low voltage cable plant for the facility, pathway systems for distribution of structured cabling infrastructure including both Outside Plant (OSP) between buildings and interior pathways within the office tower, pedestrian bridge and parking levels, design of the MDF and IDF rooms to support all IT infrastructure, design and coordinate the rack and cabinet layouts and elevations for the telecommunication rooms, coordination of Telco and Network connectivity for building systems including BMS, MEP, Security and Life Safety systems, and the design of the audio visual systems for the facility including conference rooms, breakout areas, cafes, roof deck(s), Customer Experience Center, all hands space and common area locations that require av capabilities, the design of the DAS system for both Cellular and ERRCS platforms, Wi-Fi predictive modeling for quantity and placement of wireless access points (WAPs)

AlfaTech provided due diligence and master planning of more than 1M+ SF of corporate office space for this 32-story high-rise Class A office building. The master plan building optimization materialized with the complete renovations of the 9th and 10th floors tenant spaces. Original floor mounted perimeter induction units (PIU) were replaced on the building’s 9th and 10th floors with high-performance 4-pipe chilled beams mounted in cloud type ceilings. Ventilation was designed to induce air overhead by way of a 4-zone, façade oriented, approach to the open office spaces. Dedicated demand/supply air side systems were extended to conference rooms. Phased Relocation and Change Management services of existing occupants, PG&E new “Balanced Work Place” office furnishings, fixtures and finishes standards upgrades. New vertical campus concept open office areas, collaboration areas, shared common area cafeterias, meeting rooms, technology, AV & communications. New cooling and electrical systems infrastructure replacement. Title-24 lighting and controls upgrades.

AlfaTech is providing MEP engineering and technology (low voltage, audio visual, and security) design services for the tenant improvements of the Proofpoint Corporate Headquarters, a leading cybersecurity and compliance company, at Pathline Park which encompasses two 121,000 SF, 3-story buildings totaling 242,000 SF. The new facility includes a 16,000 SF executive briefing center, 16,000 SF conference center, one 5,000 SF warehouse and shipping center, Infrastructure support rooms with MDF and IDFs. The two buildings went into construction in September 2019 and will be delivered as warm shells with roof-top VAV package units, condensing boilers/pumps, medium pressure ducts, electrical rooms, elevators (both passenger & freight) and finished rest rooms. 625 N. Delta Products desired a new headquarters highlighting sustainability and energy efficiency with primary goals to showcase Delta Products’ innovation in a state -of-the-art building blending the natural surroundings with sustainable building design. The Delta Americas Headquarters is a three-story 250,000 SF campus consisting of private offices, administrative, open workspace, conference/auditorium facilities, kitchen/dining areas, labs, office and warehouse. AlfaTech provided sustainable mechanical electrical plumbing engineering design services for this project focusing on the client’s desire to maximize natural ventilation and daylighting reduce water and energy consumption with a geothermal central plant and utilize radiant systems for primary space conditioning. AlfaTech conducted extensive CFD modeling to assist with sizing and locating windows around the building and their integration into a thermal tower ventilation strategy. The project also encompasses a photovoltaic system to balance energy consumption and achieve Net Zero Energy.

AlfaTech provided design- build services for this innovative solar panel company’s expansion into the historic Ford Manufacturing Plant is a stunning adaptive reuse project. Originally built in 1931, the Ford facility has been transformed into a modern space that now houses 200,000 SF of office space, a 65,000 SF manufacturing plant, and 30,000 SF of R&D facilities. Key components of the project include R&D tool installations, manufacturing rack and assembly, and a roof PV plant. AT provided project management services during lease and work letter scope definition negotiations with the developer’s design -build team. The move into the facility was completed on schedule and on budget.

AlfaTech provided MEP engineering, LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning and architectural lighting services for Buildings SC-09 and Building SC-10 at the Oracle, Santa Clara Campus. Building SC-09, spanning 25,000 square feet, is a single-story high-bay testing facility housing an anechoic chamber, parking, heavy equipment such as shaker tables and tilt tables, and a high-bay area tailored for mechanical lifts. On the other hand, Building SC-10, totaling approximately 115,000 square feet, comprises three stories with diverse office engineering/R&D workspaces. This includes offices, break rooms, copy rooms, conferencing facilities, and a substantial 5,000-square-foot electronic lab on the ground floor. The project involved retrofitting existing building lighting fixtures with a state-of-the-art granular lighting control system. This system operates on a fixture-by-fixture basis, with individual sensors detecting occupancy, daylight levels, temperature, and energy consumption. The meticulous integration of these services ensures optimal functionality and energy efficiency across both buildings, contributing to the overall excellence of the Oracle campus.

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI)

AlfaTech provided MEP engineering and technology (low voltage and security) design services for the tenant improvements of Analog Devices (ADI) newly relocated corporate headquarters into two recently completed warm shell buildings in Santa Clara Square. This 356,000 SF project encompasses nine of the twelve floors. The flexible 280,000 SF office space accommodates 950 seats as well as amenities, various lab and specialty program spaces including: 40,000 SF of light electronic labs; 10,000 SF electronic test lab with Class 100,000 clean room; 700 SF of wet labs; 1,200 SF data center; 11,000 SF customer experience center; an executive board room; logistics / shipping / receiving area; and a raised style 60-person auditorium. AlfaTech provided MEP design services for the relocation to a single 200,000 SF campus in San Jose. The new buildings are two stories each with floor plates of approximately 50,000 RSF each. One building was in warm shell condition and one building was in cold shell condition at project inception. The scope for this project included design services for its tenant improvements including optimization of its lab and clean room facilities. The new site is expected to accommodate approx.1000 staff and will include typical office and support spaces as well as training rooms, a fitness center, a café (approximately 12,000 SF) with onsite food preparation, a data center and approximately 50,000 SF of lab space including about 6,000 SF of Class 1000 clean rooms, 24,000 SF of Class 10,000 clean rooms and 20,000 SF of general lab space. The clean room space will house 12-15 large pieces of metrology inspection equipment related to semiconductor wafer fabrication. The equipment is used for training, prototyping and software development. The data center will house 40-45 racks of high-performance computing servers with each of the metrology inspection units.

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing fire protection engineering and technology (low voltage, audio visual and security) design for 156,000 square foot complete interior renovation for a 2-building campus for the industry leading microprocessor supplier’s US headquarters in San Jose. Facility includes office spaces,, conference rooms, phone/huddle rooms, MDF/IDF rooms, customer collaboration facility, fitness center, a full service café and a new secure exterior multipurpose amenity space. The firm also provided Title-24 Energy Modeling services. Technology services included design modifications for the low voltage cable plant for the facility and pathway systems for distribution of structured cabling infrastructure, and coordination of Telco and network connectivity to building systems including BMS, MEP, security and life safety systems.

Interiors are designed to be certified WELL Platinum (pending) and were certified LEED Gold.

This project also includes a kitchen, dining area, labs and various chambers. Shell/core is considered partially warm shell and requires additional cooling and electrical distribution from the existing main equipment.

eBay’s North Campus 5 - story addition, Building 17, houses approximately 800 employees from eBay’s PayPal division. The client’s goal was to provide healthful amenities as well as optimal work space. The project included a 12,000 SF fitness center, 500-seat cafe, offices, collaboration spaces and a large data center.. AlfaTech provided engineering design services which included a new core and shell and tenant improvements. AlfaTech also prepared electrical infrastructure design for the installation of a roof-mounted 100kW photovoltaic (PV) panel installation. Services included feeder and panel load calculations, code search, electrical plans, and coordination with the Owner, panel vendors, and the Contractor to integrate the PV panel system into the five- story building’s electrical power distribution and grounding systems.

This fast-paced project converted an existing single story concrete tilt-up building with a new 2-story building including tier III data center space and building common, core, and office. CoreSite was recognized by Silicon Valley Power as an “Environmental Innovator” for the building’s estimated 6 million kW -hour annual energy usage reduction, achieved through the energy-efficient air temperature design.

Phase 1: Core & Shell, DFW-A 3-story 141,000 SF office buildings, DFW-1 5 story 341,800 SF, DFW-2 4 story 164,000 SF. Phase 2: DFW-3 6 story 270,000 SF, DFW-4 9 story 405,000 SF. There was a service tunnel connected to the office to the amenities building below the road. There was also a 7-level parking structure, a total of 750,000 SF with a capacity of more than 2,000 cars. Project ran for 6 years and will be complete May of 2022.

The project is targeting LEED Gold certification.

AlfaTech provided additional technology design services for 34,357 SF of tenant improvements on the 1 st and 2 nd floor of MM2, located in Draper, Utah which included the low voltage design for 220 new cubes and 15 conference rooms. Technology design included the design of the low voltage cabling system, telecommunications room with IDF room, predictive Wi-Fi model to determine placement of wireless access points, design of infrastructure to accommodate the audio-visual systems for common areas including digital signage, conference rooms and common areas.
