AlfaTech acquired S&K Engineering of Monrovia and LFA Lighting of Ventura. 2020

AlfaTech was established in Silicon Valley in 1987 as a mechanical, electrical, and technology (low voltage, security, and A/V) design engineering firm. Responding to client needs, we expanded our service offerings to include architectural lighting design, sustainability, Smart Building, and project management services. In addition, we expanded into five California offices, including San Jose (Silicon Valley), San Francisco, Monrovia, Orange and San Diego. AlfaTech is gaining ground through organic, merger, and acquisition growth. Establishing Vela Tech portfolio with parent company RSBG, our services reach the West Coast to the Midwest and the East Coast from partner offices in Seattle, Chicago, Reston, and Edison. We also have an international presence with offices throughout Europe, Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. AlfaTech has a solid reputation forged by a corporate commitment to enduring client relationships and service excellence. We provide complete design, design-assist, and design/build project delivery services. Our project experience includes core and shell, tenant improvements, upgrades, repositioning, and restacks. AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical and pluming engineering services for the tenant improvements of two existing spaces, the Spa at level 1 and the Salon at level 3. Scope included locker rooms, reception, retail & hair salon, fitness center/solarium, and treatment rooms. Additionally, the Fitness Center/Solarium had replacement for the floor/wall/ceiling finishes, decorative and architectural lighting, and FF&E; Fitness Equipment. This exceptional and luxurious spa will further enhance the resort's luxurious five-star experience. Miraval Life in Balance Spa Aviara and debuted in the spring of 2023.

AlfaTech provided low voltage, audio visual and security technology design for this 250-guestroom, 16-story hotel in San Francisco. Project includes 8,000 SF of meeting space and a 120-seat restaurant, main lobby, restaurant, bar/lounge, market, courtyard, living room, workspaces, community space, fitness room and rooftop deck. The audio-visual system includes guest suite audio with inputs, background music and flat-panel displays and digital signage in common areas, presentation and conferencing systems for meetings in the conference rooms, dedicated AV systems providing network-based control of installed common area audio and video systems, and audio-visual for the amenities spaces including fitness center and meeting rooms. The security design focused on controlling and monitoring access to the common areas, building entries, amenity spaces, parking and common exterior areas. The systems include video surveillance, access control, guest entry and coordination of electronic locking hardware.

Anticipated construction cost is $19,500,000. The project site is 111 Hegenberger Road, Oakland, CA. The project tis currently under DD design and AlfaTech is providing all MEP/FP engineering.

Choice Hotels – Cambria Burbank

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design for this 6-story, 80,183 SF, 150-key hotel in Burbank. Project included flexible meeting spaces, a state-of-the-art fitness center, pool and rooftop lounge and bar with onsite dining and a PV system capable of providing 10% of the building’s energy consumption and 7 EV charging stalls.

Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, CA

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design as well as Title-24 energy compliance and consultation services for the Grand Hyatt Santa Clara’s expansion of the Regency Club. The project included the Regency Club expansion and reconfiguration of the current space and expansion into an existing corridor. All of the guest rooms located on floors 3 through 14 were renovated. There are approximately 50 rooms on each floor and 21 model room types.

Provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sustainable design for the addition and renovation of the existing hotel building at the Napa Embassy Suites. The addition is 36,000 SF, four stories high and is comprised of 47 new guest rooms and a spa. The design concentrates on maximizing passive systems and active mechanical systems will help control space air conditioning in the common areas and spa. The plumbing design will specify low flow fixtures to help reduce water usage. Renewable energy systems will be implemented to reduce energy consumption from gas and grid power. Designed to obtain LEED Silver.

AlfaTech provided Low voltage structured cabling system design for the approximately 115,000 SF site. The firm also provided audio visual and security for the guest rooms access control system and perimeter security systems. The objective was to convert the existing property into an exclusive meeting space with overnight accommodations that deliver a high-tech and high-touch guest experience. The renovation included the design and construction of two floors in the main office building consisting of 57 new guest rooms, upgrades to existing common areas, a new exhibit gallery, store, banquet space and bar and lounge. Renovations also included existing office space, meeting rooms, and a fitness area that includes a new spa and future outdoor swimming pool.

The development will be constructed on a former sand mining site totaling 40 acres and located just south of a documented critical habitat. Designed to obtain LEED Gold.

AlfaTech provided design for a 640-acre, year-round destination resort with ski-in/ski-out access to the mountain and consisting of two mid-rise 314-unit residential buildings with a range of accommodations from deluxe rooms to fireplace suites and bi-level penthouses with gas fireplaces and resort kitchenettes, 16,000 SF of conference facilities and 40,000 SF of shops, six on-site restaurants, and parking.

Parker Hotel

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing engineering and acoustical design for a 5-star luxury boutique hotel resort facility located in Palm Springs, CA. The project consists of 30 keys split across approximately 37,000 SF and 10 buildings. The project’s design invokes the Art Deco style of the existing complex. The scope of work included the design of the MEP and low voltage systems. Each guest room is provided is provided with VRF fan coil units for individual thermal controls. The resort also includes a standalone catering kitchen, banquet and meeting facilities, a full bar, a heated outdoor pool, EV charging stations and a distributed audio systems across the outdoor resort spaces. The project is projected to complete construction in 2022.

Portland Hilton Hotel

Mechanical, electrical, plumbing services for public space renovations including podium facade enhancements on two sides of this high-rise hotel, new entry lobby and porte cochere, pool enclosure, meeting rooms, fitness center, and Pavilion Room demolition. Special features included a HVAC Systems Analysis which identified considerable cost savings by reusing existing cooling tower and optimizing existing systems. The renovation includes a new 300 ton chiller and upgrade to central DDC controls. The facility will be renovated while fully occupied.

Broadmoor Hotel Colorado Springs, CO

AlfaTech provided the mechanical and electrical systems design for this $10 million luxury hotel. The project included a unique solution to the problem of energy cost and fuel availability. Additional projects for this complex included revisions to the entire electrical distribution system for the campus, the Broadmoor Golf Club, and the Equestrian Center.

St. Kitt’s And Nevis Sustainable Resort

British Virgin Islands

Sustainable consultation for the St. Kitts Development project located in St. Kitts- Nevis in the British Virgin Islands. The development is comprised of various components including a dolphin encounter center, horse track and associated retail and restaurants, beach restaurants, and a 17,000 SF private villa and numerous smaller residential villas. AlfaTech provided guidance to the Bahaman design team to various green design features to reduce heat gain, water and electricity use. Green systems: Solar Hot Water Heating, Photovoltaics, Wind Turbines, Bio digesters, Daylighting, Geothermal Heat Pumps.

Las Rosadas Resort

The firm provided sustainable consultation for the Las Rosadas Resort Development project located in Jalisco, Mexico. AlfaTech aimed to optimize natural daylighting, natural ventilation, and passive solar heating throughout the building. By harnessing natural resources available at site, AlfaTech can assist in minimizing building energy consumption while providing a comfortable and natural environment. Alternative Energy Sources (wind and solar), wastewater treatment and a composting site are implemented into the design.

Brandon House Hotel & Spa*

This 105,000 SF hotel consisted of 79 guestrooms. The project included the remodeling of the guest rooms and upgrade for the Central plant. As part of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland Pilot Bio-heat Program, our Principal provided engineering services for (2) 550,000 BTU Biodiesel boilers. The biodiesel fuel was produced in a local biodiesel production plant from locally sourced rapeseed oil and canola oil producing crops.

Dooley’s Hotel* Waterford, Ireland

This hotel and Spa in Waterford consisted of more than 100 guestrooms. This was an adaptive re-use project utilizing multiple 200+-year-old waterfront properties located on the quays of Waterford city, a historic Viking founded city and transforming them into one consolidated hotel.

This hotel and Spa in Wexford consisted of 68 Guestrooms. This project involved a creative concept of taking an old Georgian farmhouse with (8) guestrooms nestled deep within a lush quaint landscape and transforming it into a sustainable 4.5 Star (68) guestroom elegant sanctuary. The new design needed to preserve the character of the existing house and tastefully sit within the existing landscape.

Mount Juliet Golf & Spa Hotel Estate*

Kilkenny, Ireland

Provided mechanical engineering design services which consisted of an 85-guestroom hotel located on the grounds of the prestigious Jack Nicklaus designed Mount Juliet golf course. Scope included design of a geothermal ring-main brine loop, which connected to (80) geothermal boreholes. The brine loop was pumped by a pump station around the ring-main loop. Hotel and luxury private residences on the property were provided with a high efficiency high temperature geothermal heat pump.
