Lighting Design 119,000 SF

The firm provided lighting design for the extensive renovation project which included a refresh of interior galleries and exterior spaces. The firm was challenged by the exhibits team to create a lighting and controls system that would allow for flexibility, tune-able color, and the ability to scale the system without the need for a complete system overhaul. The firm collaborated with the exhibits team to create a kit of parts for each vitrine consisting of tune-able white LED Floodlights, LED mini track mounted spotlights and the ubiquitous LED tape light. All of the parts in the kit have a unique address living within a global DMX lighting controls system which is controlled via a mobile device. The ability to compose each vitrine proved to be very useful. As you can see from the images, vibrancy and realism were revealed in the color and texture of the historic hand painted backdrops and taxidermy with the new lighting installed. In addition to the enclosed vitrines in each gallery, new high CRI track lighting was added throughout.
