AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, process piping and plumbing engineering design services for this campus. This included a full building conversion of a 450,000 SF warehouse to a world-class, grid-scale battery factory in the heart of California. The existing double height, concrete tilt up, wood deck structure is located in Lathrop, CA. Program highlights include welding lines, powder coat production, general assembly, power electronics, end-of line testing, reliability lab, developer’s lab, hazardous materials storage, offices, café, on-site/off-site parking, and more. An equipment yard house the building’s central cooling system, compressed air system, Argon-CO2, and main switchgear, which was included as ground-up components in the tenant improvement scope of work. AlfaTech also provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design services for the installation of a 2,000 SF metrology lab in a 430,770 SF climate-controlled warehouse facility. In addition, we designed the power and cooling for roughly 65 tools for the parts facility. Due to the ever-changing mix of tools, a flexible design, including a plug-in bus duct, was installed to allow machines to be easily swamped and moved throughout the facility. A large compressed dry air system with multiple large compressors was also designed. We doubled the 4000-amp service building to 8000 amp, and we provided a master plan solution to allow the service to increase well beyond this value.
