AlfaTech was established in Silicon Valley in 1987 as a mechanical, electrical, and technology (low voltage, security, and A/V) design engineering firm. Responding to client needs, we expanded our service offerings to include architectural lighting design, sustainability, Smart Building, and project management services. In addition, we expanded into five California offices, including San Jose (Silicon Valley), San Francisco, Monrovia, Orange and San Diego. AlfaTech is gaining ground through organic, merger, and acquisition growth. Establishing Vela Tech portfolio with parent company RSBG, our services reach the West Coast to the Midwest and the East Coast from partner offices in Seattle, Chicago, Reston, and Edison. We also have an international presence with offices throughout Europe, Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. TECHNOLOGY STUDIO AlfaTech’s Technology Studio provides smart building design solutions for some of the world’s most complex and high performing buildings. Our Technology Studio services combines consulting, design, and software creation, and we work with clients worldwide. AlfaTech Smart Building Services help building owners and stakeholders with office strategies to roll in more Artificial Intelligence (AI) machine learning and cloud-based data and analysis in facility operation to optimize various building systems and keep maintenance low. The Smart Building Technology will also be beneficial to post-pandemic return to the office. To implement the latest and greatest technology, the essential operational technologies, including a unified user interface and reporting system that monitors and structures all various systems (BMS, Lighting Control, Shade Control, Security, Access, Conference room scheduling, and others) data in place will be required. Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts

New Construction, Core and Shell 360,000 SF Museum on 11-acre campus

high-efficiency, heat recovery central plant that provided all-electric, simultaneous heating and cooling and eliminates the need for gas fired boilers. The exterior façade self-shades the thermal shell, effectively reducing cooling demand. Curved onyxglass organically traces the rooftop which forms the solar PV field. At 365 kW capacity, the renewable energy source reduces an estimated 10 15% of the electricity demand and creates a negative carbon footprint. Smart Building design strategies increase employee comfort while maintaining energy savings, indoor air quality, and makes recommendations for customizable controls/dashboards with different levels of integration and user experiences. This includes Smart thermostats, lighting controls, smart appliances, room schedulers, automatic shades, metering data and solar PV optimizer feedback. Metering includes real time smart energy monitoring for HVAC, plug load and lighting, touchless plumbing fixtures and smart water meters and wireless monitoring. Ahead of its time, the Lucas Museum will open the doors as an eco-friendly, Net Zero Energy ready museum that gives back to the surrounding community.

AlfaTech is providing sustainable MEP engineering design, Smart Building and Low Voltage design, DAS ERRCS survey and design, Wi-Fi modeling and design for this 5-story, state-of-the-art Museum on an 11-acre campus with extensive green space which is revitalizing Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Exposition Park. The museum will feature 100,000 SF gallery space with two state of-the-art theaters, and dedicated spaces for learning and engagement, dining, retail, and events which are controlled with underfloor air-distribution and radiant floors. Sustainable design features include rainwater collection for all the irrigation needed and a large solar panel array to reduce draw on the grid. The carbon zero design harnesses heat and cooling from the soil beneath the museum with over 700 vertical bores. A thermally active water pond increases the site’s innate cooling capacity and is modulated by the

The project was designed as an innovative, ultra-high performance building that focuses on an occupant-centric workplace and includes an elaborate IT infrastructure, a façade that responds to programmatic needs, an under-floor air distribution system, a two-building atria system incorporating natural ventilation, and a central treatment system for collecting graywater and rainwater. The interactions between the occupants, the buildings, and the ambient, were at the heart of the architectural and engineering systems; targeting lower environmental metrics of 1,100,000 kWh in reduced energy use and 2,100,000 gallons in reduced water use. AlfaTech provided engineering strategies and Smart Building System Matrix outlining all systems that should be included in the Intelligent Smart Building System.

AlfaTech (AT) provided services comprehensive full design for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, technology, and innovative lighting solutions for tenant improvements for Uber’s impressive new sustainable headquarters, situated within the Chase Center campus. These two impressive 11-story high-rise buildings were designed to stimulate creativity and innovation. They boast a diverse range of spaces, from vibrant collaborative areas to serene work zones. The campus offers an array of amenities designed for occupant comfort, terrace balconies, a spacious two-floor kitchen and cafeteria, as well as inviting coffee and smoothie bars. The scope encompassed additional programming features such as a library, makers' room, event lounge, conference center, training rooms, and ground-level retail spaces. Mission Bay 3 includes an expansive 11,400-square-foot wellness fitness center on the third level that includes a fully equipped gym and is further enhanced by a 4,200-square-foot exterior terrace, thoughtfully provided for employee use, enhancing the overall workplace experience. AlfaTech provided design/bid/build style Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering, lighting design, and Technology (low voltage, security, audio/visual) services, throughout the entire project. AlfaTech was part of the construction administration effort and served as the engineer-of-record for mechanical and electrical installations. AlfaTech assisted the architectural design team with optimizing performance by assessing various utility, façade and wind studies. Life-cycle cost analysis, energy benchmarking, and computational fluid dynamics were critical tools to inform the design effort.

The 15,000 SF, full-service kitchen was designed to serve 3,000 meals with on-site award winning chefs. Kitchen included variable flow-hoods with safe shut-down, and fresh air delivered in tandem with a pollutant control system scrubbing particles from the grease exhaust. AlfaTech delivered mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services, as well as commissioning for multiple floors within a historic 10-story office building. On the 2nd floor, AlfaTech provided the MEP design for the tenant improvements of approximately 16,472 square feet into offices, lab spaces for IT and security, a 5,521-square-foot art gallery and 8,498 square feet of office space. Floor 4 was approximately 20,000 SF of tenant improvements for office space, breakout areas, kitchenettes, conferencing spaces and BOD, Peer Review and Commissioning for the L4 Security Room. Floor 6 - 10 required due diligence study of the HVAC system serving L6, L7, L8, L9 and L10 and commissioning to assure that spaces was satisfying user requirements, and a mechanical and technology evaluation of MET load capacity of the building for making a prototype Infra Lab on L8.

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing engineering and technology design services for the tenant improvement of the Class A, 5-story building office building in downtown Sunnyvale, CA. The space includes café, coffee bar, training, presentation, conference rooms, library, and open/closed offices. In close collaboration with Uber's IT team, AlfaTech developed technology standards, for the low-voltage, audiovisual, and security systems and their various components. This collaboration ensured that the technology infrastructure was aligned with the highest standards and seamlessly integrated into the overall design, meeting the demands of a modern, tech-savvy workspace.

This campus consists of: three interconnected, 6-story office buildings with two levels of podium parking on the ground totaling 752,100 SF; 25,000 SF cold core and shell café building with full-service commercial kitchen with variable flow system; six-story parking garage; open and collaborative environment with furniture systems; private offices; software/light-hardware labs in buildings 1 and 2 totaling 36,000 SF; server room with cooling redundancy; fitness center and wellness center, 10,000 SF each, in office tower 1 on level 3.

This comprehensive endeavor unfolded across various floors, each tailored to meet specific workspace needs.The 8 th floor training room is approximately 1,400 SF and included conversion of an existing open office, flex room ad small conference rooms into a new training room. On the 13 th floor project included open office workstations, meeting rooms, break rooms, phone rooms, IT rooms and support areas, on the 16 th and 17 th floors and half of the 12 th floor , approximately 48,500 SF project included open office workstations, meeting rooms, break rooms, phone rooms, IT rooms and support areas. And on the 24 th floor project included MEP engineering and technology services totaling 8,600 SF and included open office workstations, meeting rooms, phone rooms, huddle rooms, pantry/café and MDF/IDF rooms to support all IT infrastructure. This project spanned five floors and introduced a host of modern amenities. The revitalization included open office spaces thoughtfully configured with workstations, well-equipped conference rooms, private meeting spaces, and convenient micro kitchens. The modernization efforts also focused on inclusivity, featuring an all-gender restroom. The fourth floor welcomed a spacious 6,000 square foot café, while the basement was transformed to accommodate two kitchens — one for hot food preparation and the other for cold storage. These changes facilitated the incorporation of new food storage areas and additional office space, rejuvenating Uber's original headquarters into a vibrant and efficient workspace

The newly renovated project includes open and closed offices for 1,300 employees with other conveniences such as a community break room, conference spaces, building maintenance rooms, and other amenities such as a modest roof-top deck/workspace, with tenant-design ready ground floor street activated café and coffee shop with Plumbing, HVAC, and sprinklers stubbed to suite. BART Headquarters looks to set a standard for public transportation in the Greater Bay Area.

This project is obtained a LEED Gold Accreditation. Original retrofit was also done by AlfaTech.

AlfaTech provided MEP design, process design, lighting design, technology design, energy modeling and commissioning for this existing 450,000 SF campus. This facility incorporates offices, labs, warehouse and prototype manufacturing and includes 70,000 SF of ISO 6 & 7 clean room space on a custom four-foot raised floor allowing for extensive utility distribution. Most of the occupied space is on the first level, and the second level houses support infrastructure including electrical distribution, air handling units and technology support. Technology services included full design and construction administration for the low voltage-cabling infrastructure, security systems, and cabling pathway system throughout the facility. The Technology design included the layout and coordination for nine IDF Rooms, two data centers and multiple cleanroom environments. The low voltage-cabling infrastructure included copper and fiber backbone between the data centers and IDF rooms in addition to a variety of multi-port Work Area Outlets for open office, cleanroom, conference rooms and Wireless Access Point (WAP) devices. The Security design included all access control devices, video surveillance camera and design of the Security Control Center.

LinkedIn, in a strategic move, brought together its R&D and sales teams, creating a unified workspace for approximately 2,250 employees for this ambitious tenant improvement project, spanning an impressive 26 stories and covering 450,000 square feet, located at 222 Second Street. The project's scope was nothing short of extraordinary, featuring a comprehensive interior build-out. Highlights include a contemporary kitchen with a spacious servery and seating area, as well as a state-of-the-art "All Hands" presentation room. Other unique spaces within the facility encompassed a UX lab, training and seminar rooms, multiple game rooms, serene library and quiet areas, an arts room, a rooftop deck lounge, inviting cafes and juice bars, and a cafeteria styled after the popular 'Eataly' concept. Notably, the project also introduced an 8,500-square-foot public lobby, a fully equipped fitness center, 2,209 square feet of ground level retail, and two levels of subterranean parking. Building Two also features ground-level retail space, and each tower includes its own data center. AKQA is a media company that works with clients to build inspiring ideas, innovative experience. Headquartered in the renovated historic Hills Bros. Coffee Plant this tenant improvement project included open office space, conference rooms, and support space. The client desired an inspiring workspace consisting of a blend of open space mixed with a variety of huddle areas and conference spaces. Natural light was a priority. AlfaTech provided full mechanical, electrical and plumbing design as well as technology and security services for this project. Due to floor-to- floor height limitations, AlfaTech worked with the architect’s design to provide a creative exposed oval duct distribution with shallow height to accommodate the space and maintain the integrity of the overall design throughout the space.
