Project Héroe

AlfaTech was part of the interdisciplinary task force led by the USC School of Architecture, the Keck School of Medicine of USC and internationally recognized architecture firm HLW as well as consultants, medical experts, contractors and developers in the development of Project Héroe, a massive, city-scale endeavor as a proactive, rather than reactive approach to addressing future pandemic outbreaks at ground zero with a rapidly deployable, high-tech emergency mobile medical center designed around modular shipping containers that can be quickly deployed in environments ranging from inner cities to the rural countryside. The Project Héroe facility includes six building types: the hospital unit itself with exam rooms, operating rooms and radiology imaging laboratories; patient rooms which spin off the central hub; staff housing; an amenity, such as a cafeteria, fitness area, contact tracing offices, conferencing center, or outdoor garden; a small triage building that can be placed throughout the entire host city; and a storage center that could house security, IT infrastructure, and decontamination. Once each unit is built, it’s self -sufficient. Each room has its own MEP and fire protection system, while each building has its own emergency generator, water tank, and blackwater tank.
