AlfaTech acquired S&K Engineering of Monrovia and LFA Lighting of Ventura. 2020

AlfaTech was established in Silicon Valley in 1987 as a mechanical, electrical, and technology (low voltage, security, and A/V) design engineering firm. Responding to client needs, we expanded our service offerings to include architectural lighting design, sustainability, Smart Buildings, and project management services. In addition, we expanded into five California offices, including San Jose (Silicon Valley), San Francisco, Monrovia, Orange and San Diego. AlfaTech is gaining ground through organic, merger, and acquisition growth. Establishing Vela Tech portfolio with parent company Dorsch Global, our services reach the West Coast to the Midwest and the East Coast from partner offices in Seattle, Chicago, Reston, and Edison. We also have an international presence with offices throughout Europe, Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. AlfaTech has a solid reputation forged by a corporate commitment to enduring client relationships and service excellence. We provide complete design, design-assist, and design/build project delivery services. Our project experience includes core and shell, tenant improvements, upgrades, repositioning, and restacks. Each AlfaTech project aims to achieve maximum energy performance, resource conservation, and pollution reduction. This results in the highest energy savings and sustainability at all design phases. It also involves creating a balance of preservation, constructability, schedule, and budget. AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical and pluming engineering services for the tenant improvements of two existing spaces, the Spa at level 1 and the Salon at level 3. Scope included locker rooms, reception, retail & hair salon, fitness center/solarium, and treatment rooms. Additionally, the Fitness Center/Solarium had replacement for the floor/wall/ceiling finishes, decorative and architectural lighting, and FF&E; Fitness Equipment.

This exceptional and luxurious spa will further enhance the resort's luxurious five-star experience. Miraval Life in Balance Spa Aviara and debuted in the spring of 2023.

Parker Hotel

Palm Springs, CA

New Construction 37,000 SF

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing engineering and acoustical design for a 5-star luxury boutique hotel resort facility located in Palm Springs, CA. The project consists of 30 keys split across approximately 37,000 SF and 10 buildings. The project’s design invokes the Art Deco style of the existing complex. The scope of work included the design of the MEP and low voltage systems. Each guest room is provided is provided with VRF fan coil units for individual thermal controls. The resort also includes a standalone catering kitchen, banquet and meeting facilities, a full bar, a heated outdoor pool, EV charging stations and a distributed audio systems across the outdoor resort spaces. The project is projected to complete construction in 2022.

Provided specialty lighting design for the Main Lobby, Conference Lobby, Elevator Lobby and Front Desk remodel and lighting design services for the renovation of the existing fitness room and restroom facilities.

SOMA Marriott Mission Bay Hotel

AlfaTech provided low voltage, audio visual and security technology design for this 250-guestroom, 16-story hotel in San Francisco. Project includes 8,000 SF of meeting space and a 120-seat restaurant, main lobby, restaurant, bar/lounge, market, courtyard, living room, workspaces, community space, fitness room and rooftop deck. The audio-visual system includes guest suite audio with inputs, background music and flat-panel displays and digital signage in common areas, presentation and conferencing systems for meetings in the conference rooms, dedicated AV systems providing network-based control of installed common area audio and video systems, and audio-visual for the amenities spaces including fitness center and meeting rooms. The security design focused on controlling and monitoring access to the common areas, building entries, amenity spaces, parking and common exterior areas. The systems include video surveillance, access control, guest entry and coordination of electronic locking hardware.

W Hotel, 181 3 rd Street

AlfaTech provided MEP and Fire Life Safety systems inspection and commissioning on behalf of the City of San Francisco for this award winning 31-story luxury boutique hotel, 401 rooms including 12 suites with exterior terraces, meeting and event spaces such as FIT gym with glass-domed daylight space and day/night LED lighting systems, the Social Terrace, main floor TRACE restaurant and 2 nd floor Upstairs Bar at the Moscone Convention Center. Parking for this property is located below grade.

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services for the 4,200SF tenant improvement of the Oak Room/Florette Room to Executive Lounge conversion. Designed heating, ventilating and air conditioning for remodel area. Provided lighting circuiting and controls on the basis of the lighting designer’s lighting layout, designed fire sprinkler system, fire alarm system, located power connection for voice, data, broadband, of A/V system devices based on input from client or client’s technology consultants.

The project is a Choice Cambria, 4 story building, 77,200 SF. It will have 132 units, meeting rooms, in-house laundry, in house kitchen, restaurant, and bar. Anticipated construction cost is $19,500,000. The project site is 111 Hegenberger Road, Oakland, CA.

The project tis currently under DD design and AlfaTech is providing all MEP/FP engineering.

Choice Hotels – Cambria Burbank

Burbank, CA

New Construction 80,183 SF

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design for this 6-story, 80,183 SF, 150-key hotel in Burbank. Project included flexible meeting spaces, a state-of-the-art fitness center, pool and rooftop lounge and bar with onsite dining and a PV system capable of providing 10% of the building’s energy consumption and 7 EV charging stalls.

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design as well as Title-24 energy compliance and consultation services for the Grand Hyatt Santa Clara’s expansion of the Regency Club. The project included the Regency Club expansion and reconfiguration of the current space and expansion into an existing corridor. All of the guest rooms located on floors 3 through 14 were renovated. There are approximately 50 rooms on each floor and 21 model room types.

This project was covered over 3 Acre site and each hotel is 8 stories tall. The total size is 226,000 SF plus additional multi-story parking structure. The Autograph collection has 192 guestrooms, and the AC hotel has 164 guestrooms.

Provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sustainable design for the addition and renovation of the existing hotel building at the Napa Embassy Suites. The addition is 36,000 SF, four stories high and is comprised of 47 new guest rooms and a spa. The design concentrates on maximizing passive systems and active mechanical systems will help control space air conditioning in the common areas and spa. The plumbing design will specify low flow fixtures to help reduce water usage. Renewable energy systems will be implemented to reduce energy consumption from gas and grid power.

Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sustainable design for the Monterey Bay Shores Eco Resort which consists of three main components: a resort, fractional condominiums and residential. The development will be constructed on a former sand mining site totaling 40 acres and located just south of a documented critical habitat. Designed to obtain LEED Gold.

AlfaTech provided design for a 640-acre, year-round destination resort with ski-in/ski-out access to the mountain and consisting of two mid-rise 314-unit residential buildings with a range of accommodations from deluxe rooms to fireplace suites and bi-level penthouses with gas fireplaces and resort kitchenettes, 16,000 SF of conference facilities and 40,000 SF of shops, six on-site restaurants, and parking.

Mechanical, electrical, plumbing services for public space renovations including podium facade enhancements on two sides of this high-rise hotel, new entry lobby and porte cochere, pool enclosure, meeting rooms, fitness center, and Pavilion Room demolition. Special features included a HVAC Systems Analysis which identified considerable cost savings by reusing existing cooling tower and optimizing existing systems. The renovation includes a new 300 ton chiller and upgrade to central DDC controls. The facility will be renovated while fully occupied.

AlfaTech provided Low voltage structured cabling system design for the approximately 115,000 SF site. The firm also provided audio visual and security for the guest rooms access control system and perimeter security systems. The objective was to convert the existing property into an exclusive meeting space with overnight accommodations that deliver a high-tech and high-touch guest experience. The renovation included the design and construction of two floors in the main office building consisting of 57 new guest rooms, upgrades to existing common areas, a new exhibit gallery, store, banquet space and bar and lounge. Renovations also included existing office space, meeting rooms, and a fitness area that includes a new spa and future outdoor swimming pool.

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services for this project, consisting of a new multi-story, 144,000 SF building with residential condominium, recreation, and convention hall with ski in/ski out underground parking and outdoor hot tub at Beaver Creek Colorado Ski Resort.

Our team expertly transformed the gaming floor and support areas into a vibrant mix of venues including an ultra lounge, multiple dining concepts such as a steakhouse, Asian restaurant, and grab-and-go cafés. In addition to interior upgrades, AlfaTech supported the design of exterior covered dining patios and collaborated on the architectural development of a new parking structure’s façade. A key feature was the engineering of a connecting pedestrian pathway and/or bridge from the parking structure to the casino, improving guest access and convenience. Throughout the project, we integrated advanced MEP and fire protection systems to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and guest comfort, reinforcing Viejas’ position as a premi er destination in the Southern California hospitality market.

Provided full mechanical, electrical, plumbing and low voltage engineering for the expansion of MGM Grand’s Convention Center bringing the facility a combined total of 850,000 SF. The expanded space features MGM’s Stay Well Meetings – the industry’s first -ever wellness meetings experience which launched in 2014 – which expanded its footprint by 22,000 square feet, for a total of over 40,000 square feet – and encompasses the Conference Center’s entire second floor of both the new and existing space and includes amenities and programs designed to make meetings healthier, like air purification, aromatherapy and circadian lighting. All three levels of MGM Grand’s conference space feature floor -to-ceiling windows. Additional spaces within the expansion include the 10,000-square-foot outdoor Marquee Courtyard available for private events, the 47,000-square- foot Chairman’s Ballroom, 30,000-square-foot Boulevard Ballroom and two non-traditional boardrooms. The largest two ballrooms feature acoustically treated operable walls that can divide the spaces into 16 breakout rooms.

Our engineering design supported the expansive 144,300 SF exhibit hall, the 12,200 SF glass-fronted Grand Atrium, and the 9,799 SF WorldView banquet space with adjacent terrace on the 16th floor. These venues required MEP systems designed for variable occupancy, flexible configurations, and visual transparency.
