AlfaTech was established in Silicon Valley in 1987 as a mechanical, electrical, and technology (low voltage, security, and A/V) design engineering firm. Responding to client needs, we expanded our service offerings to include architectural lighting design, sustainability, Smart Building, and project management services. In addition, we expanded into five California offices, including San Jose (Silicon Valley), San Francisco, Monrovia, Orange and San Diego. AlfaTech is gaining ground through organic, merger, and acquisition growth. Establishing Vela Tech portfolio with parent company RSBG, our services reach the West Coast to the Midwest and the East Coast from partner offices in Seattle, Chicago, Reston, and Edison. This campus consists of: three interconnected, 6-story office buildings with two levels of podium parking on the ground totaling 752,100 SF; 25,000 SF cold core and shell café building with full-service commercial kitchen with variable flow system; six-story parking garage; open and collaborative environment with furniture systems; private offices; software/light-hardware labs in buildings 1 and 2 totaling 36,000 SF; server room with cooling redundancy; fitness center and wellness center, 10,000 SF each, in office tower 1 on level 3.

Uber Mission Bay 1 & 2

The project was designed as an innovative, ultra-high performance building that focuses on an occupant-centric workplace and includes an elaborate IT infrastructure, a façade that responds to programmatic needs, an under-floor air distribution system, a two-building atria system incorporating natural ventilation, and a central treatment system for collecting graywater and rainwater. The interactions between the occupants, the buildings, and the ambient, were at the heart of the architectural and engineering systems; targeting lower environmental metrics of 1,100,000 kWh in reduced energy use and 2,100,000 gallons in reduced water use. AlfaTech provided engineering strategies and Smart Building System Matrix outlining all systems that should be included in the Intelligent Smart Building System.

AlfaTech recently completed Uber’s new ground up innovative sustainable headquarters which is comprised of MB1 with total of 11-floors (10 floors of office space and a first-floor childcare facility) and MB2 with 7 floors of office, meeting, kitchen and dining, and welcoming/event center space connected by transparent sky bridges. AlfaTech provided design/bid/build style Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering, lighting design, and Technology (low voltage, security, audio/visual) services, throughout the entire project. AlfaTech was part of the construction administration effort and served as the engineer-of-record for mechanical and electrical installations. AlfaTech assisted the architectural design team with optimizing performance by assessing various utility, façade and wind studies. Life-cycle cost analysis, energy benchmarking, and computational fluid dynamics were critical tools to inform the design effort.

AlfaTech (AT) provided services comprehensive full design for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, technology, and innovative lighting solutions for tenant improvements for Uber’s impressive new sustainable headquarters, situated within the Chase Center campus. These two impressive 11-story high-rise buildings were designed to stimulate creativity and innovation. They boast a diverse range of spaces, from vibrant collaborative areas to serene work zones. The campus offers an array of amenities designed for occupant comfort, terrace balconies, a spacious two-floor kitchen and cafeteria, as well as inviting coffee and smoothie bars. The scope encompassed additional programming features such as a library, makers' room, event lounge, conference center, training rooms, and ground-level retail spaces. Mission Bay 3 includes an expansive 11,400-square-foot wellness fitness center on the third level that includes a fully equipped gym and is further enhanced by a 4,200-square-foot exterior terrace, thoughtfully provided for employee use, enhancing the overall workplace experience. Historic, Tenant Improvement, High-Rise 154,000 SF

AlfaTech delivered mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services, as well as commissioning for multiple floors within a historic 10-story office building. On the 2nd floor, AlfaTech provided the MEP design for the tenant improvements of approximately 16,472 square feet into offices, lab spaces for IT and security, a 5,521-square-foot art gallery and 8,498 square feet of office space. Floor 4 was approximately 20,000 SF of tenant improvements for office space, breakout areas, kitchenettes, conferencing spaces and BOD, Peer Review and Commissioning for the L4 Security Room. Floor 6 - 10 required due diligence study of the HVAC system serving L6, L7, L8, L9 and L10 and commissioning to assure that spaces was satisfying user requirements, and a mechanical and technology evaluation of MET load capacity of the building for making a prototype Infra Lab on L8.

In close collaboration with Uber's IT team, AlfaTech developed technology standards, for the low-voltage, audiovisual, and security systems and their various components. This collaboration ensured that the technology infrastructure was aligned with the highest standards and seamlessly integrated into the overall design, meeting the demands of a modern, tech-savvy workspace.

The space includes the Uber University / Summit Space Training, Fitness Room, Showers / Locker Room, Kitchen / Food Prep, Dining / Most Hands, Reception and Additional Restrooms, Café Restrooms, Umetal Lab and Open Office with total of ~ 900 seats.

The project was designed to achieve LEED Gold V4 compliance.

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, as well as low voltage and audio-visual design, and commissioning for the tenant improvements of Uber's original headquarters located within a downtown high-rise. This project spanned five floors and introduced a host of modern amenities. The revitalization included open office spaces thoughtfully configured with workstations, well-equipped conference rooms, private meeting spaces, and convenient micro kitchens. The modernization efforts also focused on inclusivity, featuring an all-gender restroom. The fourth floor welcomed a spacious 6,000 square foot café, while the basement was transformed to accommodate two kitchens — one for hot food preparation and the other for cold storage. These changes facilitated the incorporation of new food storage areas and additional office space, rejuvenating Uber's original headquarters into a vibrant and efficient workspace

AlfaTech provided MEP and Technology Engineering Services for this 8-story historic high-rise building in center of the city. AlfaTech provided full design services for site, shell/core and tenant improvements of standard office space including private and open offices, conference rooms, huddle rooms, telephone rooms, break rooms, training spaces and other support spaces, a multi-story atrium lobby and a central chiller plant and 12kv high voltage power distribution. The First Basement included a variety of garage, large conference/training spaces, labs and potentially a cafeteria, along with utility spaces for electrical distribution. The two lower basements were designed for utility equipment such as fire pumps, boilers, and similar equipment.

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering, technology design encompassing low voltage and audiovisual systems, and LEED fundamental and enhanced commissioning services to ensure sustainability and efficiency for LinkedIn’s new headquarters project in the heart of San Francisco SoMa district. LinkedIn, in a strategic move, brought together its R&D and sales teams, creating a unified workspace for approximately 2,250 employees for this ambitious tenant improvement project, spanning an impressive 26 stories and covering 450,000 square feet, located at 222 Second Street. The project's scope was nothing short of extraordinary, featuring a comprehensive interior build-out. Highlights include a contemporary kitchen with a spacious servery and seating area, as well as a state-of-the-art "All Hands" presentation room. Other unique spaces within the facility encompassed a UX lab, training and seminar rooms, multiple game rooms, serene library and quiet areas, an arts room, a rooftop deck lounge, inviting cafes and juice bars, and a cafeteria styled after the popular 'Eataly' concept. Notably, the project also introduced an 8,500-square-foot public lobby, a fully equipped fitness center, 2,209 square feet of ground level retail, and two levels of subterranean parking. This endeavor exemplifies innovation and transformation in the heart of a bustling urban hub.

AlfaTech is providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering expertise, as well as innovative lighting design for LinkedIn's tenant improvements spanning an impressive 194,850 square feet in Sunnyvale. The project's scope encompasses a wide range of features, starting with a diverse set of first-floor amenities, a 24,350 SF server, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a versatile tech talk and all-hands space, along with inviting public areas. The upper three floors are thoughtfully designed to accommodate the typical office space requirements for approximately 900 employees. Each floor features a welcoming breakroom, new unisex restrooms, enhanced guardrails in a 2-story area, as well as the addition of new janitors' closets and mother's rooms to enhance the overall functionality and comfort of the workspace. Two new IDF rooms in basement levels 1 and 2, and incorporates the installation of 12 new Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), promoting sustainability and convenience.

AlfaTech's contribution extended to providing essential sustainability and regulatory services, including LEED Energy Modeling, CALGreen Advisory, Title 24 Energy Modeling, and performance calculations, further emphasizing our commitment to creating environmentally conscious and high-performing workspaces. It achieved this by proposing facility solutions that not only were more cost-effective to operate but also contributed to fostering an improved working environment, aligning with Visa's broader facility management goals and objectives. Leveraging a multi-faceted evaluation of the facility's condition and performance projections, the report presented a prioritized list of building improvements. These improvements were categorized based on their operational and maintenance necessity and energy-saving potential within 3-year, 5-year, and 7-year periods. Furthermore, the report outlined preliminary cost-saving estimates, potential utility incentives, and implementation cost projections.

AlfaTech delivered a comprehensive MEP assessment for Visa's Foster City Campus, Buildings M1 and M2 located at 900 Metro Center Blvd. This extensive evaluation encompassed the evaluation of existing systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, plumbing, and power (both normal and emergency power). The assessment was a crucial element of Visa's Facility Management's forward-looking strategy and long term capital planning. The Common Floor is an innovative workspace featuring 13 consciously curated workspaces inspired by the vibrant neighborhoods surrounding their San Francisco headquarters. The floor includes a Ferry Building dining room, Cable Car pop-up retail, a Conservatory of Flowers mini-golf and craft area, the Okta-torium, and the Castro Theatre screening room. The space includes a vibrant mini-golf course. The boardroom is a multi functional space, ranging from an AV-equipped meeting room to a tech-free dining room. The space features in-house designed murals, galleries, and art for signage and wallcoverings.

Now considered a landmark on the San Jose skyline, the Adobe headquarters campus houses more than 2,500 employees. Each of the three buildings has its own parking garage, public lobby, and provides open workspace, Executive level offices, conference rooms, breakout areas, cafés, a wellness/fitness center, a roof deck, pedestrian bridge, a new Customer Experience Center. Building Two also features ground-level retail space, and each tower includes its own data center. The data center design consisted of a 7/24 full generator/UPS backup system for HVAC, lighting and power within the room with 100% redundancy.

Facility includes office spaces,, conference rooms, phone/huddle rooms, MDF/IDF rooms, customer collaboration facility, fitness center, a full service café and a new secure exterior multipurpose amenity space. The firm also provided Title-24 Energy Modeling services. Technology services included design modifications for the low voltage cable plant for the facility and pathway systems for distribution of structured cabling infrastructure, and coordination of Telco and network connectivity to building systems including BMS, MEP, security and life safety systems.

Interiors are designed to be certified WELL Platinum (pending) and were certified LEED Gold.

AlfaTech provided MEP design services for the relocation to a single 200,000 SF campus in San Jose. The new buildings are two stories each with floor plates of approximately 50,000 RSF each. One building was in warm shell condition and one building was in cold shell condition at project inception. The scope for this project included design services for its tenant improvements including optimization of its lab and clean room facilities. The new site is expected to accommodate approx.1000 staff and will include typical office and support spaces as well as training rooms, a fitness center, a café (approximately 12,000 SF) with onsite food preparation, a data center and approximately 50,000 SF of lab space including about 6,000 SF of Class 1000 clean rooms, 24,000 SF of Class 10,000 clean rooms and 20,000 SF of general lab space. The clean room space will house 12-15 large pieces of metrology inspection equipment related to semiconductor wafer fabrication. The equipment is used for training, prototyping and software development. The data center will house 40-45 racks of high-performance computing servers with each of the metrology inspection units.

Molex, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, acquired a 108,600 SF building consisting of office, lab, and warehouse space at 46360 Fremont Blvd. The building was built in 1983 and was in need of updates to the interior as well as exterior façade. AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering and lighting design services for this extensive tenant improvement project. The transformed space now clearly represents this progressive and innovative high tech company. The project consisted of an open collaborative environment, conference and training rooms, lunch room, fitness center, patio and sport court, clean rooms, pilot line, dry lab and warehouse areas.

The new facility includes a 16,000 SF executive briefing center, 16,000 SF conference center, one 5,000 SF warehouse and shipping center, Infrastructure support rooms with MDF and IDFs. The two buildings went into construction in September 2019 and will be delivered as warm shells with roof-top VAV package units, condensing boilers/pumps, medium pressure ducts, electrical rooms, elevators (both passenger & freight) and finished rest rooms.

This adaptive reuse project transformed the 2-story historic Varsity Theater into a contemporary, efficient cafe and co-working space while preserving original architectural details. Project included lounges and open group working areas, focus rooms and meeting rooms, an event venue and other support spaces. A new IDF room and associated new HVAC cooling only system was required as well as a kitchen with extensive warm and serve capabilities for the new café. The design included all new lighting, lighting controls and power and an extensive reconfiguration of the fire sprinkler and fire alarm system.

New Relic, a software company, desired a beautiful and creative space that reflected its unique culture which would provide flexibility and opportunity for future expansion. AlfaTech provided MEP design services for this tenant improvement project which consisted of the redesign of floors 9, 10, 11 and 12 and featured premium corporate office space in a 12-story building in downtown San Francisco. Working in tandem with the innovative team at M Moser Associates, AlfaTech provided mechanical and electrical engineering design services for this 73,000 SF project which included the remodel of open office areas; addition and modification of conference rooms; workstation densification; coffee bar modification with ventless equipment and outside vendor catering services; and investigation of the enlargement of the existing assembly space.

AlfaTech provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design of this 10-story office building located in Oakland’s vibrant Uptown neighborhood. The project included warm core & shell retrofit of an existing ten (10) story, 244,000 SF office building including a ground level parking garage and future retail spaces. The design included new electrical utility service and distribution system, new mechanical and plumbing system as well as infrastructure for future retail. New mechanical system consist of energy efficient water-cooled VRF coupled with dedicated outside air system. All services are capped at each floor for future tenant connection. The building façade was completely redesigned and consists of high efficiency glazing and window wall system.

The firm also provided energy modeling; Fundamental & Enhanced Commissioning services required for LEED certification. Target LEED Gold.
